THE CHRISTIAN MISSION HOSPITAL
The history of the Christian Mission Hospital at Madurai and the history of the C.S.I Jeyaraj Annapackiam College of Nursing and Allied Sciences, are inseparably Intertwined. The Christian Mission Hospital is one of the earliest health agencies of Missionary Medical work in Southern India. The Hospital evolved from a small dispensary established by the American Missionary Doctor C.S. Shelton in 1849, which in the next two years became a hospital. In 1937,
This hospital functioned as two separate units namely the hospital for women and children and the Albert victor hospital for men, later, as the Willis F. Pierce memorial hospital for men. Parker, E.W.Wilder, Chellappa, J.J.Bornes, Betty Chinniah, Indra Raja and Rajeev Chelladurai, A.K. Fenn.
